Veteran Affairs announces new director at VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System
RENO — The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Amick as Medical Center Director for VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System in Reno, Nev.
In his new role, Mr. Amick will oversee a large, integrated health care system that provides primary and secondary care to Veterans residing in 20 counties in northern Nevada and northeastern California. Mr. Amick is expected to arrive within the next 30-60 days to begin his appointment.
“Kevin Amick’s sound leadership qualities and proven experience are welcomed assets to the Network,” said John Brandecker, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 21 Director. “His 30+ years of combined military and civil service will greatly benefit the facility, local community, and Veterans we are honored to serve.”
Mr. Amick currently serves as Executive Director at the Butler VA Health Care System in Butler, PA. He began his VA career in 2010 and has served in various executive and leadership roles at the Durham and Hampton VAs. During his 21-year naval career, Mr. Amick served in the Navy Hospital Corps where he had a range of roles including chief hospital corpsman.
Mr. Amick holds master’s degrees in health administration and human resources management from Strayer University and a bachelor's degree in health science from Old Dominion University. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
