Carson City school curriculum in the spotlight Oct. 17 at Sierra Nevada Forums meeting
The Sierra Nevada Forums, in partnership with the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters of Northern Nevada will host “School Curriculum: How Is It Decided Upon and Implemented?” on Oct. 17 at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m. The forums are co-sponsored by the Nevada Appeal. This is the eighth season of free community forums on topics of current interest. The BAC Performance Hall is at 511 W King St.
The Oct. 17 forum will focus on how curriculum is decided and implemented in the Carson City School District. The panel moderator will be Susan Hoffman, retired educator.
Presenters include Jhone Ebert, Superintendent, State Department of Education (or her designee); Tasha Fuson, Assistant Superintendent, Carson City School District; Cheryl Macy, Director of Equity in Curriculum and Instruction for Carson City School District; and a member of the Carson City School Board (invited). Each presenter will speak for about 15 minutes, with time reserved for written questions from members of the audience.
Future forums are planned for Jan. 9, March 12, and May 14, 2024. The January forum topic is: Aging: Everybody's Doing It: Resources and new ideas for healthy aging in Carson City.
