Carson City’s inaugural Murals & Music Festival happening today through Saturday
Local, national and international artists will create more than 20 murals live at the Brewery Arts Center and at public spaces around Carson City. The festival runs through Saturday. It is free, open to the public and for all ages.
To add more flavor to the mix, there will be live music concerts at the Brewery Arts Center and at locations near the artists at work. Other community activities will include docent led mural tours, artist lectures and talks, children’s art activities, and interactive mural painting with the community.
A full lineup of performances and mural locations is detailed on the event site, Murals & Music Festival. A schedule of events and interactive map of the happenings around town can be found here. The map is also provided for download below.
The Brewery Arts Center, Visit Carson City and the city partnered to produce the festival, a public art campaign that ties in with the city’s 2022-26 Arts and Culture Strategic Plan. Funded by contributions from Visit Carson City, community groups, local businesses and private donations.
The festival is centered at the Brewery Arts Center at 449 W King St., where visitors can pick up a map (see the map below) of where the murals are located and where the live music performances are happening.
Locations for the murals include Xquisite (310 N. Stewart St.); Northern Nevada Coin (601 N. Carson St.); Capital City Flats (801 N. Carson St.); Rylexa Properties (1850 N. Carson St.); Nevada State Bank (4267 S. Carson St.) the Carson City Library (900 North Roop St.) and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce (1900 S. Carson St.).
The festival aims to provide additional vibrant murals to Carson City’s public places for all to enjoy and will serve as a permanent outdoor art gallery.
Organizers have shared they feel the event will help continue the revitalization for Carson City’s economy and further establish the city as an arts and culture destination.
“The Murals & Music Festival will help attract travelers and grow Carson City’s reputation as a destination for vibrant arts and culture,” said David Peterson, executive director of Visit Carson City. “The festival will help bring our community together through art and music, which is why Visit Carson City was eager to collaborate with the Brewery Arts Center in sponsoring the festival and further the positive impact it will have on Nevada’s capital city for years to come.”
