Carson City Fire Department was called Wednesday afternoon to the area of Highway 50 East between Deer Run and Drako Way for a brush fire.
The fire was reported at 4:21 p.m. and was said to be burning along the roadside with some rate of spread. Nevada Highway Patrol and Carson City sheriff's deputies also responded for traffic control.
Motorists can expect delays as fire engines are headed to the scene. Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon reports there are three small brush fires along Highway 50 East. Officials are investigating the possibility the fires were started by sparks from a chain dragging along the pavement.
