Virginia Truckee Railroad serves up Halloween trains full of pumpkins and spice

Celebrate the Halloween season on the Virginia Truckee Railroad. The entire family will enjoy this spirited collection of themed train rides where passengers will board at the historic F St 1870’s Depot in Virginia City and journey to the Gold Hill Depot Pumpkin Patch. They are then able to get off the train and choose their favorite pumpkin with the assistance of our helpers.
Then it’s back on board for the return trip to Virginia City. All the cars will be open-air, so dress warmly and bring your costume, if you want. These trains fill up fast, so reservations are strongly recommended.
The Pumpkin Patch train will run Oct. 12-13, 19-20 and 26-27 at 11:30 a.m., 1:20 pm, 3 p.m. with a 5 p.m. dusk train on Friday, Oct. 18. Fares will be $25 for adults and $16 for children ages 5-12 and will include a pumpkin.
Meanwhile, the Haunted Halloween Graveyard Train will be the highlight of your Halloween season. We will meet the Executioner in the Gold Hill Graveyard this Halloween (if you dare!) The 4 mile, 40-minute route between Virginia City and Gold Hill comes alive with "scare" as haunted and trapped souls come out to play on Oct. 25, 26 and 31.
You'll ride safely in open air cars into the dark evening under the gorgeous crescent moon. It's Disney meets the wild west, scary and spooky at the same time. Don't miss this eerie, chilly Halloween evening.
Come up to Virginia City and ride through the haunted Comstock Lode. Dress warmly. Trains depart at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30, Oct. 25, 26 and 31. Adult fare is $26, children, ages 5-12, $19.
