103rd Annual Candy Dance returns to Genoa this weekend
The first Candy Dance was held in Genoa in 1919, and came about as a fundraiser to purchase street lights for the tiny town tucked away against the Sierra mountains in the Carson Valley. Now, over 100 years later, the annual Arts and Crafts Fair is still being held.
North America's best Border Collies coming to Carson Valley for National Sheepdog Finals
The best Border Collies in North America will be coming to Gardnerville, Sept. 20-25 to compete in the 2022 National Sheepdog Finals. These top dogs will be arriving in Nevada from all over the United States and Canada to battle for the coveted title of National Sheepdog Champion.

Weekly open air vintage market hits downtown Carson City throughout the summer
The market will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from June through September and is free to the public. Shoppers will be able find antiques, arts and crafts, collectibles, furniture, general swap merchandise, and more.
The Carson City Historical Society will be hosting ongoing events every Sunday at the historic Foreman-Roberts House and Carriage House located at 1207 North Carson in Carson City.
A different kind of tunnel vision explored in upcoming Carson City Historical Society talk
A program about the history and local impact of the Sutro Tunnel will be presented free to members of the Carson City Historical Society and the public on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Carriage House by Chris Pattison, project manager for the Friends of Sutro Tunnel, an organization that is working to restore the site as historically accurate as possible. Chris is also a board member for the Society.
