Carson City firefighters get control of house fire on West Long Street
UPDATE 5:53PM: A fire caused major damage to a West Long Street home on Monday afternoon burning into the attic, interior and exterior of the home, said Carson City Fire Chief Robert Schreihans. No one was injured.
The blaze produced flames outside the home that were fueled by winds that ignited nearby trees and shrubs, forcing the evacuation of two nearby homes. The neighboring homes were not damaged.
Firefighters were able to get a handle on the blaze within 15 minutes, said Schreihans.
"It was pretty intense by the time firefighters arrived," he said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
