Dayton Valley Days returns this weekend with treasure hunt, live music, vendors, food and more
Come one, come all to Dayton Valley Days, a two-day outdoor street festival where people from Dayton Valley and the surrounding areas can come together to enjoy the historic downtown area.
In its 33rd year, the festival will be held in Old Town Dayton on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18 beginning at 8:30 am.
Vendor spots have sold out, which means there will be so much for attendees to find — make sure to get a jump on that early holiday shopping!
Various craft and food booths will line Pike Street in downtown Dayton for visitors to enjoy.
The pancake breakfast, hosted by the Kiwanis, begins at 7:30 a.m. each day featuring eggs, sausage, pancakes and Larry’s Gourmet Coffee! Pancake breakfast is $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.
Organized by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Dayton Valley Days is packed full of fun activities: A silent auction, gold panning, kids zone (games and fun), street festival, treasure hunt, museum tours, craft and food booths, and live entertainment.
On Saturday be sure to sign up for the cornhole tournament, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. on Tyler Street. Entry is $50 per team, with 80 percent of proceeds going to the top three teams in an “Airmail Competition.” You can register on the “Scoreholio” app.
The treasure hunt allows participants to learn about the rich history of Dayton, all while qualifying to win a 70-inch Smart TV. The drawing will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, and you do not need to be present to win. Visit the Chamber’s booth for the entry form; open to anyone 7 or over.
The Dayton Valley Lion’s Club will also be hosting a free vision screening for children inside the Community Center at 170 Pike Street from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Be sure to stop by the Community Center in the afternoons for live music offered by Athena McIntyre on Saturday and Carson Chandler on Sunday.
The Show and Shine will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday along Main Street, with trophies presented in several categories. The awards ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the car show registration booth.
There is so much more to explore, including Eagle Wings Dancers, basket weaving demonstrations, a dunk tank, Civil War re-enactors, gold panning, and much more! A pet parade, which had previously been schedule, has been canceled due to a family emergency, organizers said.
