Davis Fire officially enters mop up stage with localized 'seek and destroy' missions, additional evacuations zones lifted
Evacuations have now been lifted in the Montreux area, though residents are cautioned while in the area as crews continue to work.
According to John Cervantes, Operations Section Chief, the fire is now officially in the mop up stage.
“The overall theme of the fire right now is in a mop up stage,” Cervantes said, “and we’re also looking at doing some suppression repair where it make sense along the fire.”
Containment lines held over night, and the fire remains at 56% containment. Total acreage burned or burning is just over 5,800 acres.
They are using heat signature equipment to find hot spots for individual “seek and destroy” missions, Cervantes said, but there is no immediate threat to any of the containment lines at this time.
