High elevations in the Sierra, Tahoe ski areas see dusting of snow
With a little more than a week and counting until the fall season begins, the upper elevations of the Sierra Nevada and a few Lake Tahoe area ski resorts got a taste of late summer snow early this morning.
The video below is what fell at Mt. Rose Resort. Sierra-at-Tahoe also received a nice dusting. At Kirkwood, their Cornice Chair camera picked up the first sight of snow in months. The base of Kirkwood is at 7,800 feet and the summit sits at 9,800 feet.
Warmer and drier conditions are expected for mid to late week, with highs rising to slightly above average by Friday and Saturday. The first day of fall is Sept. 22.
