9/11 remembrance ceremony to be held Monday at Mills Park in Carson City
A 9/11 remembrance ceremony will be held Monday, 6 p.m. at Mills Park in Carson City. Each year, attendees gather at the memorial site in Mills Park, which contains a piece of the steel beam donated to the city from the World Trade Center’s fallen North Tower.
The event, hosted by local churches, takes place annually on behalf of the Carson City Christian Ministerial Fellowship.
The park's 9/11 memorial site is near the Marv Teixeira Pavilion and Carson & Mills Park Railroad. Mills Park is located at 1111 E William St, Carson City.
Among guest speakers will be Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell, CCSO Sheriff Ken Furlong and CCFD Fire Chief Sean Slamon.
Elsewhere, the City of Fallon is hosting a memorial ceremony on September 11, honoring the first responders, military, and victims on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The ceremony will include a rendition of the national anthem from Churchill County High School, as well as a moment of silence, 21-gun salute, and a ceremonial placing of roses on the monument.
The program begins at 10 a.m. City Hall Courtyard, 55 W Williams Ave in Fallon.
