Western Nevada College President to speak to Carson City Rotarians Sept. 12
Rotary Club of Carson City members will hear about new and ongoing educational opportunities at Western Nevada College (WNC) at the club’s next meeting which takes place Tuesday, September 12, at noon in the Brewery Art Center’s Grand Ballroom. WNC President Dr. Kyle Dalpe will be the featured speaker, the public is invited to attend.
Dalpe will give an overview of the various programs offered at the college, including those designed to develop a strong local workforce. “One of our core functions is career and technical education, namely workforce training,” Dalpe explains. “We have created a number of programs that are designed with the help of industry partners to meet their employee needs. Skilled workers in trades such as welding, automotive, robotics, battery recycling and the like are in high demand.”
Dalpe will also provide insight on the school’s large reach across Northwestern Nevada. “I don’t think everyone realizes the scope of what we do at the college,” he says. “We serve more than 5,000 students each year across three campuses and online. Our service area is more than 12,000 square miles.”
WNC has campuses in Carson City, Fallon and Minden. Along with Associate degrees and transfer programs it offers two, four-year degrees and a variety of flexible learning options aside from a traditional 16-week semester schedule.
