Carson City area weather: Thunderstorms possible, cooling ahead for weekend and beyond
A trough pushing moisture into the West Coast will bring a chance of widespread showers and thunderstorms to the Carson City region Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
These storms are capable of producing strong outflow winds, frequent lightning, and localized flash flooding. Dry and breezier conditions are expected to move in by Friday, with a more notable cooling trend later this weekend.
Daytime highs through Friday will be in the mid 80s around the Carson City region and mid to lower 70s around Lake Tahoe. A cool down will take place Sunday into the start of next week with high temperatures in warmer valleys in the low 80s. Around Lake Tahoe, highs will be in the high 60s to low 70s, according to the weather service.
Early morning frost is also a possibility for colder mountain valley locations as temperatures dip to near freezing. The other thing to look out for is chances for rain showers across portions of northeast California and northern Nevada Saturday night into Sunday with the trough passage.
