— Carson City Supervisors will discuss approving a settlement with Walgreens concerning opioid-related claims as part of the One Nevada Agreement.
The total amount agreed upon by Walgreens is $218.9 million statewide, with Carson City’s allocation to be $2.17 million, paid across 15 annual installments beginning December 2023.
— Similarly, Supervisors will discuss a proposed settlement against Teva Pharmaceutical Industries as part of the One Nevada Agreement.
Teva has agreed to pay $145.9 million statewide, with Carson City’s allocation being $1.45 million, paid in installments over 20 years.
— A proposed Group Living Project grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will be discussed for an amount not to exceed $57,397 from October 2023 - September 2024.
According to the agenda, the purpose of the grant is to assist Carson City Health and Human Services in housing homeless individuals.
This grant provides funding for rental assistance, administrative costs, supportive services, and operating expenses.
The grant will help CCHHS to house more than one individual living in one apartment, as two-bedroom apartments are often more readily available, according to the agenda.
The grants match is 25 percent, which consists of a portion of wages for the Case Manager, Community Health Worker and the Human Services Division Manager, along with purchases of bus passes and identification cards.
— The replacement of the existing fire sprinkler system at the Eagle Valley Golf Course Clubhouse will be discussed, with a request for a contract increase amount.
The project includes the replacement of the existing fire sprinkler system, with an original not-to-exceed amount of $146,756.50, which included a 10 percent contingency.
To date, the construction has not begun, and during the Fire Department’s review of the plans, it was discovered that the fire suppression system did not have a required back flow prevention device, which will increase the overall price by $37,740 for a new not-to-exceed amount of $184,496.50.
— Supervisors will discuss submitting a nomination to the BLM’s Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act Round 20 grant program in the amount of $14.9 million for the Mills Park Master Plan Implementation Process.
Pre-applications are due Sept. 14 and final applications on Nov. 5. No city match is required for this nomination.
— Improvements to the John D Winters Centennial Park Complex will be discussed, with discussions on whether or not to issue a general obligation limited tax park bond not to exceed $5 million.
— Appointments to the Historic Resources Commission will be discussed. There are two vacancies, with two applications submitted by Donald Smit and John “Jed” Block.
— Supervisors will discuss the proposed closures for the Nevada Day Parade, which takes place this year on Saturday, Oct. 28.
