Vehicle pursuit in Carson City ends Wednesday with one in custody
A vehicle pursuit ended with the suspect arrested early Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of College Parkway and Retail Drive in Carson City. A sheriff's deputy ended the pursuit by purposely hitting the suspect's vehicle, forcing him to crash.
The pursuit began at around 11:45 a.m. in the area of College Parkway near Roop Street after the suspect, Ruben Angel, 18, who had a felony warrant for his arrest, would not stop for a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy who attempted to pull him over.
The pursuit meandered through various streets, then to Highway 50 briefly before taking side streets to North Carson Street before the driver swung around and went through neighborhoods.
The suspect driver turned onto College Parkway where he was forced into a collision with a Carson City Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle, which ended the pursuit when the suspect vehicle crashed into a building. The suspect was arrested, Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed.
The deputy and suspect suffered scratches and not seriously injured, said Furlong. The pursuit ended at around noon.
We will update when more information becomes available.
Because a deputy was involved in the collision, the incident will be investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol.
