Aces win 4-3 against Grizzlies
RENO- The Aces looked to rebound against the Grizzlies on Wednesday night after losing the previous night 5-2. They looked to their RHP Zach Kroenke and a better offensive night to get them back on track.
Kroenke delivered with a solid outing going 6 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 runs, with 3 strikeouts on 2 walks. He left the game with a 4-2 lead and in line for his tenth win of the year.
The Aces' offense also delivered, by getting to Fresno's starter LHP Matt Yourkin who went 6 innings giving up 9 hits, 4 runs with 3 strikeouts on 5 walks. Reno got to Yourkin right away by scoring 4 times in the first inning backed by the 3-run homerun by Cole Gillespie
The Grizzlies would not go away scoring a run in the seventh inning off of relief pitcher Alberto Castillo putting Fresno within a run (4-3). Castillo will report to Phoenix today as he was called up by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ryan Cook, who pitched the Aces into the playoffs back on Monday night came on in the 9th inning to close things out and grab the second victory against Fresno in this four game series. After getting the first two batters out, Cook surrendered a two-out double by Justin Christian, but that would be all the Grizzlies would do in the 9th as Emmanuel Burriss grounded out to first baseman Andy Tracy to end it and give the Aces the 4-3 victory and Kroenke his tenth victory on the year. Yourkin was issued the loss for Fresno as Cook got the save for Reno.
Fresno and Reno play for one final time in the 2011 season at 7:05 on Thursday night at Aces Ballpark.
