Brewery Arts Center hosts two Carson City performances of 'Shirley Valentine' Sept. 7-8
Shirley Valentine: Fall in With the Idea of Living returns to the stage after a popular run this summer at Brüka Theatre with two performances in Carson City at the Brewery Arts Center, Saturday, Sept. 7, 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m.
Written by Willy Russell, who, like all the best folk artists, holds up familiar aspects of life for inspection and enjoyment. He is an instinctive feminist and expresses a radical desire for people to improve their lives and see themselves with more dignity. This witty, buoyant comedy explores the wild strategy a middle-aged woman comes up with to love just being herself.
Tickets cost $16 for students and seniors, $18 general admission and $20 at the door.
Mary Bennett revives her role as Shirley Valentine, directed by Kristin Moffitt. Bennett, a recent recipient of the Sierra Arts Foundation Fellowship grant, is thrilled to be performing at The BAC, her performance home for many years.
Bennett is currently Producing Artistic Director of The Brüka Theatre in Reno, Artist In Residence for The State Of Nevada Arts Council and The Sierra Arts Foundation and leads the Carson City Ghost Walk.
Shirley Valentine plays just two shows at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City. Reservations are recommended for Shirley Valentine. Tickets are available at the box office the day of the shows or call the Brewery Arts Center at (775) 883-1976.
