Plea change now forces trial in robbery of elderly World War II vet
One of two involved in the robbery of a 101-year-old Carson City World War II veteran will go before a jury while the other will be sentenced for the crime late next month.
Robert Hernandez pleaded not guilty to robbery and other charges in the Memorial Day weekend robbery where the veteran and caretaker were held at gunpoint while the two allegedly searched the home for a safe and eventually made off with about $30. Trial begins Oct. 6.
Meanwhile, Jordan Burkhart, who pled guilty to robbery of a person over the age of 60, had his sentencing delayed from August 26 to a new date, Sept. 30.
