Jack’s Bar evicts feathery squatters, renovations underway at Carson City watering hole
For the first time in years, the doors to Carson City’s historic Jack’s Bar on the corner of 5th and Carson Street are reopened, and renovations are underway, with the eviction of a flock of pigeons that have called the bar their own for years.
The Carson City-based Nevada Builder's Alliance, a state-wide professional organization representing the construction industry and affiliated sectors, recently completed the purchase of the Jack's Bar building for $300,000.
The property, located at 418 South Carson Street, was purchased from Cubix Ormsby LLC, which also owns the Ormsby House on the opposite corner of the intersection.
The new owner, Aaron West, hopes to restore the bar to its former glory, and has asked the community’s help in providing photos of what the bar once looked like inside.
Anyone with information about Jack's Bar is encouraged to contact West 775-882-4353 or via email at aaron@nevadabuilders.org.
The trespassing pigeons, who have been transferred into cages on top of the bar, will be taken to another location and released.
