Weather Service: Expect partly cloudy skies around western Nevada during solar eclipse
Solar viewing glasses will be turned to the sky for Monday’s solar eclipse. While Carson City and western Nevada are not in the totality path, the eclipse will still be quite visible, with 75 to 90 percent of totality, or the percent of the sun obscured, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
The forecast Monday morning is for partly cloudy skies, with greater chances for clouds in Mono and Mineral counties southward. While the overall wind pattern should help keep the bulk of the smoke out of the region, smoke from wildfires is always a wildcard and some haze is likely to persist, according to the weather service.
The eclipse begins around 9 a.m. with maximum coverage 10:19 to 10:22 a.m.
