Brush fire reported above Goni Pit in north Carson City
UPDATE 6:40PM: The brush fire, named the "Volcano Fire" as a working incident, has been extinguished after burning about a half-acre of brush, Carson City Fire Department has reported to dispatch.

UPDATE 6:20PM: More Carson City fire crews have withdrawn from the scene of the brush fire reported above the Goni gravel pit in north Carson City.

UPDATE 5:10PM: Carson City Fire Department has recalled some of the units that responded to the brush fire above Goni Pit. No word yet on fire status or containment.

Emergency dispatch has reported a lightning-caused brush fire above Goni pit in north Carson City.
Engines from the Carson City Fire Department have responded, along with Carson City Sheriff's Office units.
The fire has been upgraded to a working incident, according to the CCFD, which is requesting hand crews from Douglas County to assist in accessing the fire.
However, firefighters report the fire is only smoldering at this time and not an active blaze.
The call came in shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
