Ray May Fire Update: 50 percent containment, two structures lost

11:15 update: It has been confirmed that two structures have burned, a BLM-owned structure and a private outbuilding. East Fork Fire Officials are working to notify the owner of the private structure.
9:30 a.m. update from Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center, the Ray May Fire is 50 percent contained, estimated at 2,730 acres. They estimate full containment at 6 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters worked through the night and the fire did not make any significant runs last night. Firefighters will continue today aggressive direct attack with aerial and ground resources mainly on the north and eastern flank of the fire.
Approximately 8:15 p.m. on 8/17/2011 we received news that a habitable structure had been lost. There were additional structures lost last night, at this time it is unsure if these structures were habitable or outbuildings. The website will be updated after investigations and thorough site recon has been completed.
Fire continued to make runs to the north and east this afternoon driven mainly by wind. Firefighters will continue to construct direct line around the parimeter of the fire tonight, utilizing crews, engines, and dozers.
The Fire is currently being managed by Local Type III organization. Additional resource will be arriving within the next 24 hours to assist in the management and containment of the fire.
Incident Command Post has been set up at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
There were two non life threatening injuries that occured this morning on the fire line. The firefighters are receiving treatment for their injuries.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Department is working in conjunction with East Fork Fire Investigators in the arrest of two 15 year old males in connection with the start of the Ray May Fire. The juveniles are in custody and have been charged with 3rd degree arson. The investigation is ongoing.
