Less smoke in the air Saturday morning brought out hot air balloons that hovered over Carson City. Wildlife were also active early in the wetlands and retention ponds in East Carson City just off the Interstate 580 freeway.
The air quality index in Carson City is currently in the moderate range at 60, according to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), but the forecast for later today and Sunday is for potentially unhealthy levels of air pollutants as fires in Northern and Eastern California continue to burn.
The Carson City area is forecast to reach a high of 94 degrees Saturday, according to CarsonWeather.com and the National Weather Service in Reno.
Widespread is haze is forecast with light winds 5-15 miles per hour (mph).
The ultraviolet (UV) index is also forecast to be in the very high range today at 10.1 and 9.5 on Sunday.
