Cruises, classic cars and more: Hot August Nights revs up this week in Reno and Sparks
Tuesday marks the first of six days of hot days and cool nights with cruises, Show-n-Shines, drag race, entertainment and lots more taking place throughout Reno and Sparks. View the complete schedule here.
Registered Car Packet Pickup: See who is most excited for the 2022 event at Grand Sierra Resort, Silver State Pavilion, as the doors open at 8 a.m. for the more than 5,000 registered vehicles. Interview the first in line before 8 a.m. and Hot August Nights Executive Director Alan Tom or representatives from the Board of Directors.
Wednesday, Aug. 4 Schedule Highlights:
10 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Show-n-Shine, cruise at Atlantis Casino Resort
10 a.m. to 10 p.m.: Show-n-Shine, vendors, entertainment at Grand Sierra Resort
10 a.m. to 10 p.m.: Sparks Victorian Square Craft Fair – Nugget Casino Resort East Parking Lot
10 a.m. to 10 p.m.: Show-n-Shine, cruise at Peppermill Resort
6 p.m. to midnight: Drag Races & Burnouts, Presented by Amsoil – Nugget Casino Resort West Parking Lot – Gates Open at 5:30pm & Close at 10:30pm
8:15 p.m.: Blood, Sweat and Tears at Grand Sierra Resort at the Outdoor Stage Presented by Lucas Oil Products, Inc.
Looking ahead this week
Legal Street Racing: Open to all makes all models and all years (registered vehicles or not) this Wednesday, Aug. 3 and Thursday, Aug. 4 ONLY at the Drag Races & Burnouts, Presented by AMSOIL at the Nugget Casino Resort west parking lot. Cars do not need to be registered for HAN but do need to pay a registration fee. A great way for anyone to race and practice those burnouts. For costs and details, click here.
MAG Auctions Charity Auction Cars: Each year, MAG Auctions raises money for Reno-Sparks area non-profits by auctioning off items specifically earmarked for this purpose. This year, five of the cars up for auction will be sold with proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish, the Nevada Humane Society, and the Hot August Nights Foundation. To date, MAG Auctions has raised over $450,000 for these and other local organizations. Reno Police Department’s K9 Unit will also be involved in the auction, using it for animal training exercises while providing added security. In recognition, MAG Auctions will auction an item to benefit their unit. Learn more here.
Make-A-Wish Car Rebuild Car by 17-year-old: The auction takes place during Hot August Nights Collector Car Auction presented by MAG Auctions on Friday, Aug. 5 at 3:15 p.m. at the Reno/Sparks Convention Center. Over the past six years, Hot August Nights Foundation has donated $25,000 to Make-A-Wish. The Hot August Nights Foundation’s Mission is to provide children in our local community that are considered in need or at-risk with a more meaningful and productive life through the availability of continuing and higher education.
