Carson City man jailed for alleged robbery, grand larceny and domestic battery with strangulation
A 19-year-old man was arrested Friday for suspicion of robbery, grand larceny of an auto and felony domestic battery with strangulation among alleged other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Alexander Murillo was taken into custody at 3:43 p.m. He also was booked for suspicion of gross misdemeanor false imprisonment and misdemeanor domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a Gordon Street store in reference to a vehicle theft. Deputies met with the victim who advised her ex-boyfriend stole her vehicle and fled the area. The victim's father confirmed the car was registered to him and confirmed he wanted to enter the vehicle as stolen, the report states.
A deputy observed a bloody laceration with swelling on her lower lip as well as bruising on her throat and scratches on her arms and hands. She said several times she did not want to talk about what happened, though it was clear to the deputy that a battery occurred, the arrest report states.
During the investigation deputies spoke with witnesses who confirmed the suspect had been abusing the victim including information about abuse on July 13 and her being hospitalized with bruising on her throat, the report states.
On Friday witnesses said they saw the victim pull into the parking lot, and realized it was an abusive situation, with the victim having a bloody lacerated lip and cuts on her arms. Witnesses confronted the suspect with her and told him to leave, in which he became agitated and argued. He then got into the driver's seat of the vehicle and began to leave. He was told to stop but he refused, the report states.
Deputies reviewed video footage from the business that showed the suspect leaving with the vehicle. Further investigation gathered led to information that on July 13 the victim had been strangled by the suspect, the report states.
A deputy spoke with the suspect several times over the phone. The suspect was defiant and challenged officers to come and find him. Later on Friday Murillo called a deputy and stated he didn't have the vehicle and never took it in the first place. The deputy informed him he saw him on video take the vehicle. The man then challenged the deputy to come and find him, the report states.
Deputies from the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team located the suspect, executed a high risk traffic stop and arrested Murillo. Bail: $40,000.
