Carson City detectives seek information after thieves break into 12 vehicles at 2 dealerships
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is asking for the public's help in providing any information regarding at least a dozen vehicles that were burglarized at two Carson City auto dealerships early Monday morning.
At approximately 3 a.m., at Capitol Ford, 3660 South Carson Street, an unknown number of suspects in a black four door vehicle broke into a Ford Mustang in front of the dealership, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Detective Sam Hatley.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., the black vehicle arrived Carson Dodge at 3059 South Carson Street. Video surveillance shows two suspects wearing dark hooded sweatshirts exiting the black vehicle.
The suspects broke into more than 10 Jeep Wranglers and Grand Cherokees, stealing the high-end radio units. Extensive damage was caused to the vehicle at Carson Dodge, said Hatley. One of the suspects was holding a cordless drill as he walked among the vehicles.
Video surveillance shows the black vehicle leaving the lot at approximately 4:40 a.m. The vehicle drove south on South Carson Street.
