greenUP! Carson City promotes Clean Plate Club with summer discount at participating restaurants
As part of its #PlasticFreeJuly campaign, greenUP! is offering a one dollar-off discount at participating green dining district restaurants for community members that join the Clean Plate Club. This is part of greenUP!’s Week 2 Challenge where people were asked to find ways to help out in their community. Plastic Free July is an international awareness month focused on the environmental and health impacts of plastic pollution. greenUP! is sharing Plastic-Free challenges each week of the month of July and they invite the Carson City community to join them.
“Restaurants were hit hard during COVID, and we are asking the Carson City community to support all restaurants in their recovery,” said Donna Walden, President of greenUP!. “Green Dining District restaurants are practicing ways to reduce their plastic waste and food waste. During our banner promotion, we ask the public to join the Clean Plate Club which is our Green Dining District fan club or mailing list to find out ways to support our Carson City green dining restaurants and learn more about ways to reduce waste of all types.”
For a one-week community benefit campaign, which runs from July 26 through Aug. 1, community members are encouraged to bring their appetites to Green Dining District restaurants and join the “Clean Plate Club.” Those who sign up during the banner promotion will receive a one dollar-off thank you from green dining restaurants. Participating restaurants include Arby’s, Cucina Lupo, Scoups Ice Cream & Soup Bar, So Juicy, and The Union.
When the Green Dining District banner is flying in the heart of the Green Dining District, between W. Spear and Telegraph Streets, community members will know that a green dining district campaign is in session. For more details about banner promotions, visit the greenUP! website.
greenUP! started the Green Dining District coalition in 2019 to work with restaurants to identify areas where they can reduce waste. greenUP! follows the national EPA Food Recovery hierarchy, which encourages actions to reduce the amount of food we send to the landfill.
greenUP! invites new restaurants to join the program during 2021. Interested restaurants may contact info@greenupnow.biz or call 949-306-3465 to engage.
