UPDATE: One killed, one seriously injured in US-50 crash at Spooner Summit; traffic lanes reopened
Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division confirms one person died and one suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in a crash Tuesday afternoon involving a commercial tour bus and a single vehicle on US-50 West at Spooner Summit.
According to NHP, the preliminary information known is that an Amador Stagecoach tour bus with 17 passengers was traveling westbound on US-50. An SUV traveling southbound on SR 28 made a left onto US-50 east to Carson City. For unconfirmed reasons, the two vehicles collided.
— One adult person was pronounced deceased on-scene.
— One adult person was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Several minor injuries were reported with no other individuals transported.
All travel lanes are open.

UPDATE 5PM: Highway 50 West at the top of Spooner Summit and the intersection of State Route 28 remains closed due to the fatal crash. Motorists can use State Route 207 Kingsbury Grade to get to South Shore Lake Tahoe.

A vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon involving an airport shuttle bus and other vehicles that resulted in at least one fatality has forced the closure of US-50 Highway near the top of upper Spooner Junction at SR 28, according to law enforcement.
The closure is in both directions. The crash was reported at 1:43 p.m. Motorists are advised to use different routes.
