NV Energy says underground cable blamed for Thursday's Dayton area power outage
An underground cable that affected the electrical distribution system is what caused Thursday's power outage in Lyon County that affected 2,475 Dayton area customers, a NV Energy spokeswoman said.
"It was a bad underground cable which is what made it difficult to get to unlike an outage from a power line where it can be reached easily," said Faye Andersen, spokeswoman for NV Energy.
Dayton area residents lost power at 5:37 p.m. with NV Energy able to make adjustments, by 7:30 p.m. reducing the number to 1,948 customers and by 9:30 p.m. 1,183 customers. By 10:30 p.m. 983 customers were without power and by 10:52 p.m. all power was restored, said Andersen.
