Eyes On Carson: Capitol City Triathlon
Dozens of children tested their athletic potential Saturday morning during the Capitol City Triathlon held at the Carson City Aquatic Center and Mills Park.
In its 13th year, the triathlon is an event exclusively for youth, giving them a chance to compete in their own iron-man (or woman) event.
Athletes were divided into five age categories: 13 and over, 11-12, 9-10, 7-8, and 6 and under.
Each age group competed at different times, starting out in the aquatic center pool where they swam the full length of the Olympic-sized pool.
They then hurried out of the water and to their bicycles parked at the entrance to Mills Park. Following a sidewalk course, the athletes completed both bicycle and running legs on their way to the finish line.
