More than 1,990 NV Energy customers in Carson City affected in power outage

UPDATE: The Saturday night concert at the Brewery Arts Center is underway after power was restored in the area. As of 7:30 p.m. much of the power has been restored with 44 customers not having power.

There are at least 7 power outages in Carson City with more than 1,900 NV Energy customers without power Saturday evening, according to the utility.

At least one of the outages happened at around 4 p.m. with others happening around 6 p.m. As of 7 p.m. there were 1,993 customers without power in Carson City. The cause is unknown at this time. There was a tree that fell across the roadway in the area of Saliman Road and Kingsley Lane. It is unknown at this time if that had anything to do with the outages.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has arrested the driver of a vehicle that was on fire on I-80 near Verdi on Sunday. The vehicle, a 2020 Alfa Romeo, is believed to have started the Gold Ranch Fire which has burned over 500 acres, so far.
