Nevadans warned of phone scam targeting Medicaid recipients
The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday sent out an advisory warning Nevadans to be aware of a telephone scam targeting Medicaid recipients.
The Division of Health Care Financing and Policy has recently received reports of unsolicited calls from individuals posing as representatives of Medicaid presenting false information to residents.
DHHS encourages all Nevadans to be diligent in safeguarding their personal and financial information. The Department reminds consumers that Medicaid will not offer a monetary discount or “deal” to recipients and an individual’s status as a recipient of Medicaid is confidential.
If you are uncertain of the validity of a caller, disconnect the call and contact the agency directly to find out if they were attempting to reach you. Scams can be reported to the Federal Trade Commission online at ftc.gov/complaint
