Impact of tariffs and exports on Northern Nevada economy explored at NNDA meeting
The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host a July 25 discussion in Carson City that will examine impacts of tariffs and exports on the local economy.
The presentation, "Demystifying the Global Trade Deal in Today's World Economy" will feature Richard Malcolm Swanson Jr., Director of Pacific South Network (Region) of the U.S. Field Operations of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service.
The presentation will be Wednesday, July 25, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Nevada Room at the Governor's Mansion, 606 Mountain Street in Carson City.
Swanson will focus his presentation on trade, tariffs, and how exports contribute to our local economy.
International trade is important to the Nevada economy. In 2016, the Silver State exported $9.8 billion worth of goods worldwide. Carson City alone exported $119 million in goods during 2015.
The discussion is part of The Business Edge, the Northern Nevada Development Authority's monthly business briefing, which brings speakers to discuss business issues, trends, local, state, and federal government policies, and more. The Business Edge also provides opportunities to network with local business executive and management teams, government officials and nonprofit organizations.
