More than 5,000 firefighters battling 24 fires across Nevada and California
Hazy conditions around Carson City and the region is due to the smoke from several fires in Nevada and California that continue to burn Sunday with thousands of firefighting personnel battling the blazes.
The list below is of current fires in both states, updated with information available at as of 1:50 on July 9.
Nevada Fires
— Aspen Fire, Winnemucca Ranch Road north of Sparks, 200 acres, zero percent containment.
— Truckee Fire - 98,960 acres, 95 percent contained, 128 personnel, 10 miles north of Fernley, NV
— Earthstone Fire - 41,545 acres, 92 percent contained, 102 personnel, east side of Sparks, NV
— Limerick Fire - 14,598 acres, 95 percent contained, 200 personnel, 15 miles northeast of Lovelock, NV
— Winnemucca Ranch Fire - 4,799 acres, 75 percent contained, 244 personnel, 15 miles north of Reno, NV
— Tar Creek Fire - 1,000 acres, 60 percent contained, 30 personnel, south of Austin, NV
— White Horse Fire - 800 acres, 15 percent contained, 12 personnel, White Horse Pass Elko, NV
— Flower Pass Fire - 617 acres, 85 percent contained, 70 personnel, Elko County
— HD Summit Fire - 600 acres, 20 percent contained, 39 personnel, 20 miles north of Wells, NV
— Potosi Fire - 420 acres, 45 percent contained, 167 personnel, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest near Las Vegas, NV
— Chase Spring Fire - 560 acres, 95 percent contained, 46 personnel, Elko County

— Alamo Fire - 23,867 acres, 10 percent contained, San Luis Obispo County
— Schaeffer Fire - 14,342 acres, 11 percent contained, 798 personnel, 17 miles north of Kernville, CA
— Whittier Fire - 7,800 acres, 5 percent contained, 400 personnel with more on the way, Lake Cachuma, Santa Barbara County
— Wall Fire - 4,400 acres, 17 percent contained, 750 structures threatened and evacuations are in place, 1,086 personnel, Butte County 5 miles north of Bangor, CA
— Winters Fire - 2,269 acres, 75 percent contained, 777 personnel, Southwest of Winters, ca
— Parkfield Fire - 1,500 acres, 30 percent contained, Parkfield, CA north of San Luis Obispo, CA
— Island Fire - 567 acres, 47 personnel 14 miles west of Etna, CA
— Fay Fire - 469 acres, 85 percent contained, south of Etna, CA
— Willow Fire - 370 acres, 90 percent contained, Rodeo, CA
— Axel Fire - 100 acres, 50 percent contained, in El Dorado County in the town of Rescue, CA
