Carson City Symphony’s ‘ Strings in the Summer’ begins Friday, July 14
Carson City Symphony Association’s “Strings in the Summer,” a program for string-instrument players of all ages and experience levels, will begin on Friday, July 14, 2023.
Two sessions will be held on four consecutive Friday mornings at St. Paul's Lutheran Family Church, 1201 N. Saliman Road, just north of Carson High School. Registration and tuition are free, donations welcome.
In the first session,"Adventures in Rhythm," from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., players will alternate playing their string instruments and various percussion instruments. In the second session, "Alternative Styles," from noon to 1:30 p.m., players will focus on fiddle, jazz, and improvisation. Symphony Youth Strings instructor Suzanne McGarraugh will lead both sessions.
The third week sessions, on July 28, will feature guest artists Brandon Dodge, percussion, and Kat MacMartin, alternative styles. The fourth and final week, August 4, will include a performance open to guests.
