Overgrown, dry vegetation and winds fuel wildfires around Northern Nevada
Multiple fires are burning around the Northern Nevada region, with one 15-acre fire east of Carson City that started Tuesday night. The Sedge Fire was located in the Brunswick Canyon area. No homes or structures were threatened.
"At the Sedge/Brunswick Fire last night, we responded with 3 Brush engines, our seasonal handcrew, and 1 additional brush engine from East Fork Fire. Due to the aggressive actions of firefighters the fire was held to approximately 15 acres," according to the Carson City Fire Department Facebook page.
The largest of the fires in the region is the Truckee Fire burning near Wadsworth, at more than 70,500 acres and the Earthstone Fire, located in Sparks. That fire has consumed at least 25,000 acres. Both fires started on Monday. The Winnemucca Ranch Fire is burning at Winnemucca Ranch Road and Pyramid Highway. The fire is around 1,500 acres with homes and structures threatened.
