WNC Outfielder Earns All-Star Game Start
Western Nevada College’s top returning hitter on the baseball team is mirroring the weather this summer — hot, particularly in the Midwest where he is playing in the Prospect League.
Champion City Kings outfielder Jake Bennett has been selected to participate in the league’s annual all-star game July 8 in Terre Haute, Ind. Bennett is sixth in the league with a .324 batting average — identical to what he hit in his first season with the Wildcats.
Bennett’s four triples are tied for the Prospect League lead, and he ranks fourth in total bases (49) and fifth with eight doubles. Last spring, Bennett belted five homers, second among the Wildcats of Carson City, and earned second-team All-Region 18 honors.
In the all-star game, Bennett will start in right field for the East Division.
