Kings Beach woman arrested on suspicion of third DUI

A 22-year-old Kings Beach woman was arrested Sunday on a felony charge of third offense DUI after Carson City sheriff's deputies who were at the scene of a traffic accident on Highway 50 said she nearly hit them as she passed.

Gloria Estefan Grajeda was arrested in the 4600 block of South Carson Street on suspicion of felony DUI and four misdemeanor charges.

According to dispatch and the arrest report, officers were sent to the area in reference to a reckless driver seen heading eastbound on Highway 50 off of Spooner Summit. A call was made to dispatch by a reporting witness regarding the suspect driver, who was allegedly swerving on the road and failing to maintain lanes of traffic.

An officer at the scene of a separate rollover accident in the eastbound lane said he was nearly hit by the vehicle when it went past the accident scene, according to dispatch. Officers located the vehicle, which had pulled into a gas station. The arresting deputy spoke with the driver who gave a false name and birthdate before she later admitted to driving the vehicle, the arrest report states.

The deputy observed signs of impairment. She provided a a preliminary breath test sample with a result above .08 and was arrested. During the search, the officer located a small baggie of marijuana in her right front pocket in which the woman admitted she had smoked marijuana about an hour before driving, the arrest report states.

She was taken to jail where she agreed to complete a blood test. At jail officers learned that she had two prior DUI convictions within the past seven years and her Nevada license had been revoked for DUI. Grajeda faces the following charges: DUI third offense, a felony and misdemeanor charges of driving on a revoked license, fictitious registration, providing false ID to avoid prosecution and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Bail: $22,398.

Deputies spoke with the owner of the vehicle Patterson broke into. The owner said he had exited a business and saw the man in his car, throwing his property out of the vehicle. The owner confronted the man who tried to fight, with the owner grabbing a rock for protection, and chasing him out of the parking lot. The car owner denied hitting Patterson with the rock.

The officer observed several items around the vehicle and broken glass objects in which the owner said were his. He also said he was missing $375 and his wallet. Officers attempted to speak with Patterson but he was intoxicated and did not make sense.
