Bistro restaurant not retained by Tahoe Ridge
An official with The Carrington Company, a Eureka, California-based property management firm which manages the Carson Mall property complex, stated Monday that Tahoe Ridge Winery will not reopen The Bistro restaurant under its name.
"Unofficially," said Gabe Hagemann, managing director of The Carrington Company, "They've conceded that they will not be the ones running the bistro."
Instead, Hagemann added, his company will reserve the right to determine what business fills the space left vacant by The Bistro at Tahoe Ridge since right after Christmas 2015.
He said Tahoe Ridge relinquished its control over the space to property management, and The Carrington Company is currently looking into long-range options for the space.
"They've given us control of the entire premises, for which we are actively looking for long-term solutions," Hagemann said. "We are actively exploring multiple long-term alternatives."
Hagemann said that while The Bistro will not reopen under Tahoe Ridge, this doesn't mean the idea is gone for good.
"There's still things in the hopper," he said.
The approximately 6,500 square-foot space is already set up and well-equipped to support a first class restaurant, Hagemann said.
"That thing is turn-key," he said. "All it needs is for someone to move in."
With a wood-fired oven, a full bar, covered outdoor patio, private party rooms, and a massive commercial kitchen, the space is already adequate to support an even larger restaurant operation, Hagemann said.
"All of the features and benefits are in there to serve a 10,000 square-foot restaurant facility and off-site catering," he said. "It's built to support a pretty intense operation."
Personnel at Tahoe Ridge Winery declined to make official comment Monday about The Bistro restaurant.
Tahoe Ridge Winery, a limited liability partnership made up of about 34 shareholders, still occupies the rear of the building, located at 1105 S. Carson Street, running its retail, tasting and production operations there.
The area's only local vintner produces its signature wine selections from Nevada-grown grapes in Fallon, Yerington and Smith Valley.
Besides wine, Tahoe Ridge continues to specialize in producing its own lines of olive oils and balsamic vinegars, too.
Tahoe Ridge Winery is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
