30th annual RSVP Fourth of July Fireworks scheduled at Mills Park in Carson City
The fireworks are back this year thanks to the Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program, and this year will mark the 30th anniversary of Fourth of July Fireworks at Mills Park in Carson City.
The city of Carson City and Carson City Toyota are helping to sponsor the event this year, which can only take place thanks to donations from the community, and is free for all.
There will not, however, be an RSVP-sponsored carnival. RSVP Executive Director Molly Walt told Carson Now in previous years that the carnival is expensive to run, and does not leave much in the way for funds for RSVP after celebrations are over.
RSVP is a 501c3 non-profit that works to provide trained volunteers to assist seniors within the rural counties, who might otherwise lack the opportunity to seek out services.
To put on the fireworks, the cost is around $25,000, according to Walt, and in recent years Carson City has stepped up to help alleviate the cost. In 2021, Carson City donated $15,000 for the event.
Carson City Toyota has long been a major sponsor of the event, donating the cost for the 3D glasses used by attendees, as well as providing the synchronized music courtesy of radio station KWYL FM 102.9.
Fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m. at Mills Park, which is located at 1111 E. William Street in Carson City.
