Carson City Library adds color to Summer Learning Challenge
It was ready, set, read and color Tuesday at the Carson City Library as it celebrates its ongoing Summer Learning Challenge.
In the photos, Ivania Lozano, 15, and Emily Lozano, 11, participate in the coloring night Tuesday at the Carson City Library. In the second and third photos are participants Monica Emmerich-Choi and Joseph Knopp.
The summer challenge includes age-appropriate assignments for participants from young children to older adults with raffle prizes for those who complete the challenge. This year's theme is "Libraries rock."
In addition to reading assignments, the library will also host an array of workshops and presentations throughout the challenge. The challenge runs now through August 14.
“With the Summer Learning Challenge, we are definitely helping to curb the summer slide where students lose reading comprehension over the break,” said library Director Sena Loyd. “We feel encouraging adults to read, listen to audio books and attend events at the library set a good example for their children to follow and inspires lifelong learning.”
