Carson City Board of Supervisors to discuss building permit allocations, jail medication costs

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held Thursday, June 20 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Board Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William St.
On the agenda:
— Supervisors will discuss the maximum number of residential building permit allocations for 2025 and 2026, and estimating the maximum number of allocations for 2027 and 2028. They will also establish the number of building permit allocations within the development and general property owner categories, and establish a maximum average daily water usage for commercial and industrial building permits. A total of 779 residential allocations are proposed to be made for 2025, with 335 in the General Category and 444 in the Development Category. Daily water threshold is proposed to remain at 10,000 gallons pre day.
— The Little Lane Village multifamily duplex development is asking for a one-year extol of time to record a final map. The board approved the tentative subdivision map in September 2019, and two final maps have been recorded for the project, most recently for phase two in October 2022. State law requires a subsequent final map to be recorded within two years from the date of the previously recorded final map. The applicant is seeking a one-year extension of time for the map which, if approved, will expire in October 2025.
— A contract with Mary Bryan, a licensed clinician, will be discussed for clinical treatment and counseling services for Mental Health Court for an amount not to exceed $92,160 for one year, contingents on if the court is awarded a grant to fund the contract. According to staff, clinical treatment and counseling services are a critical element of the Mental Health Court program to assist with stabilizing and treating the participants. The funding for the contract comes from a grant from the Nevada Supreme Court, Administrative Office of the Courts.
— A proposed contract with PowerComm Solutions Inc. will be discussed in the amount of $171,718 to upgrade the camera system at the Carson City courthouse. The upgrade was approved as part of the Capital Improvement Plan. Recently, PowerComm upgraded the Carson City sheriff’s office camera system which is integrated with the courthouse.
— A landscaping and maintenance project contract will be discussed with Sunstate Companies LLC. to provide cleanup, plant maintenance lawn mowing, weed control and other tasks along South Carson Street in the area of the South Carson Neighborhood Improvement District. The total proposed amount is $79,213 for identified project work plus a $27,000 contingency for unidentified project work.
— The Sheriff’s Office is requesting an additional $60,000 in purchase authority for prescription medication for inmates at the jail, bringing the new approved total to $230,400. The jail is required to provide prescription medication for inmates, but this year, medication needs are higher than were anticipated and the budget must increase to keep up with demand.
— A zoning change ordinance will be read for the second time changing zoning from Public to Retail Commercial on property located along S. Carson and S. Stewart streets just north and east of the roundabout adjacent to the Carson Mall.
