Dry and windy for early part of this week; Red Flag Warning Tuesday
Dry, windy conditions for the Carson City region will develop late today and early Tuesday as low pressure moves into the Pacific Northwest this week, according to the National Weather Service. A Red Flag Warning will go into effect beginning Tuesday at noon because of the wind that will cause critical fire weather conditions.
Winds will be breezy on Monday with gusts of 30 to 35 mph and localized blowing dust through the Black Rock Desert area. Winds to further increase Tuesday with widespread gusts of 40 to 45 mph, which may cause travel impacts to high profile vehicles.
Check with the California Department of Transportation and the Nevada Department of Transportation for any travel restrictions for high profile vehicles on area roadways. It is recommended that outdoor furniture and other items are secured by Tuesday morning.
Winds Tuesday will cause areas of blowing dust east of Highway 395 with the potential for visibility reductions below one mile. In addition, expect choppy conditions on all area lakes with hazardous boating conditions for small boats.
Monday's high expected for Carson City will be 83 and Tuesday, 80.
