Nevada State Police identify motorcycle rider in fatal Geiger Grade crash
A 76-year-old man has been identified in the fatal June 1 crash involving a motorcycle rider on State Route 341 Geiger Grade.
Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division has identified Robert Klein from Citrus Heights, Calif., as the motorcycle rider who died at the scene of a crash on SR-341 Geiger Grade Road, mile marker 2 Washoe near the lookout, in Reno. The crash was reported at 4:25 p.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a black 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by Klein, was traveling northbound on SR341, south of mile marker 2 Washoe, according to NHP in a news release.
A gray 2019 Subaru Impreza was traveling southbound on SR431. For reasons not unconfirmed at this time, the motorcycle departed the travel lane and entered the dirt and rock outside shoulder, the release states.
The motorcycle then re-entered SR341 and rotated, traveling across the northbound travel lane and entering the southbound travel lane. The front of the Harley-Davidson struck the left front of the Subaru Impreza, the release states.
The two adult occupants of the Subaru were transported to an area hospital as a precautionary measure and are cooperating with authorities in the crash investigation.
The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team) is investigating this crash.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West has investigated 12 fatal crashes resulting in 15 fatalities thus far in 2024. The fatalities data is preliminary and may change/be updated based on final investigation and coroner reports.
