Nevada Guard's annual Flag Day ceremony, U.S. Army birthday happening Wednesday at capitol
The Nevada Guard's annual Flag Day ceremony and 248th U.S. Army birthday is set for this Wednesday, June 14 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Nevada Veterans Memorial on the state capitol grounds, 101 N. Carson St. in Carson City.
Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo will be the keynote speaker; Col. Brett Compston will give the Army birthday address. Channel 2 anchor Ryan Canaday is the master of ceremonies.
The public is invited to this free event, which will feature a display of the first 36-star American flag flown in Nevada following statehood in 1864. Also, included is Army birthday cake provided to those in attendance.
