Parolee turns himself into Douglas County authorities

UPDATE: On Wednesday morning at approximately 6:45 am, parolee absconder Randy Nourse turned himself over to deputies at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Minden Station.
Nourse was previously reported as a fugitive from justice by the State of California, Department of Parole and Probation.
Nourse was safely taken into custody by Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies without incident.
Nourse will remain in the Douglas County Jail pending his extradition back to California.

California authorities have asked Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Nevada for help in locating a felon who skipped parole and is now a fugitive from justice. The 48-year-old man, identified as Randy Nourse, is believed to be be hiding somewhere in Douglas County.
Nourse has a felony criminal history in California for burglary, robbery and narcotics offenses.

On Tuesday, June 5th, 2012, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the State of California, Department of Parole and Probation, regarding a parolee absconder who is a fugitive from justice.

California Parole and Probation Officers advised that 48 year-old ex-felon Randy Nourse had fled from California, and was reportedly staying somewhere in Douglas County.

California P&P Officers stated they believed Nourse was likely living in the Summit Crest Apartments at 921 Mica Dr, in north Douglas County.

At approximately 5:00 pm, officers of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons & Tactics Team (SWAT) established a safe containment on the apartment complex where Nourse was reportedly living.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) then delivered a cell phone to the apartment, and made several attempts to gain verbal contact with Nourse via the phone; however those attempts met with negative results.

At approximately 6:50 pm, officers of the DCSO SWAT Team made entry into the apartment. No one was inside.

It is unknown at this time where Nourse is hiding. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Nourse is asked to call the Douglas County Emergency Dispatch Center at 775-782-5126.

Nourse has an extensive felony criminal history in California for burglary, robbery and narcotics offenses. There is no information that Nourse is currently armed or has access to weapons, however anyone who observes him should use caution and do not approach him; however immediately call your local law enforcement agency to report it.

Nourse is described as: male, Caucasian, 48 years-old, approx. 6ft-1in tall, approx 215 lbs, large build, with balding light-colored brown hair and blue eyes. Nourse was last known to have a mustache and long goatee (brown and grey in color). Nourse also has several tattoos on his neck.

August tours at the Nevada State Prison in Carson City are filling up for the summer, and tours are opening soon for the fall.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports and cases from citizens scammed during fraudulent business transactions.

The suspect in the shooting of two Silver Springs, NV residents on June 26, 2024 has been positively identified as 53 year old Silver Springs resident Stephen Thomas Shytle. At this time, Shytle’s whereabouts are unknown.
