Carson City emergency crews respond to fight at Warm Springs Correctional Facility
A fight involving multiple inmates broke out inside the Warm Springs Correctional Facility off Fifth Street in Carson City around 1 p.m. Saturday, prompting prison officials to call Carson City Fire and Rescue.
According to emergency dispatch, at least three inmates and as many as five were originally reported as being stabbed, requiring emergency medical attention on scene.
Fights were still in progress as emergency crews were en route, dispatch said, but prison staff reported the fights were expected to be cleared by the time fire and rescue arrived.
Care Flight was originally called for the injured inmates, but has been canceled by rescue crews.
Instead, multiple rescue agencies and ambulances have been called to assist in transporting the injured to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
According to Carson City Fire and Rescue, the incident is being reported to hospital staff as a Level 2 Mass Casualty Incident (MCI), which includes multiple serious injuries requiring immediate treatment.
