Carson City deputies make arrests for battery on peace officer, DUIs and embezzlement

A 22-year-old Dayton man was arrested May 29 for suspicion of gross misdemeanor battery on a peace officer and misdemeanor obstruction, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

According to the booking report, deputies were called to Carson Tahoe Hospital for a patient who had run away. Dispatch advised the man had come to the hospital high on MDMA and LSD and had reportedly fled the hospital. He was reported to be "extremely high" and violent and was seen attempting to break into cars in the parking lot. He was reported to be wearing only blue jeans, the report states.

Deputies located the man running east in the middle of the roadway on Medical Parkway, with several cars driving near him. Believing the man was under the influence of a controlled substance and a possible danger to himself and others the officer activated his overhead lights. The man observed the lights and stopped running.

The officer approached the man who was mumbling words, in which the officer could not understand. The man was instructed three times to sit on the ground. He then acted as though he was going to comply by standing on the ledge of the curb, the report states.

The man then suddenly took off running east into a parking lot at 4340 North Carson Street. The man was told to stop but he continued to run. Two deputies attempted to grab as he ran, causing the suspect and the deputies to fall to the ground. The suspect then wrapped his right arm around a deputy's neck, pulling his face toward the ground. The officer instructed the man to let go of his neck, but the man didn't comply. Deputies were able to pull his arms behind him and place him in handcuffs.

He was taken back to the hospital for medical clearance and then booked on obstruction and battery on a peace officer. Bail: $2,912.
