New, safer pedestrian walkways coming to U.S. 50
According to the Nevada Department of Transportation, construction of new ADA compliant walkways are now underway on Highway 50 E., and will continue throughout June near Silver State Street by the Goodwill, Classy Seconds, and FoodMaxx.
As Highway 50 is a fast moving road, especially heading towards Mound house and Dayton, these extra safety measures are sure to be welcomed. Pedestrians and motorists can expect flashing pedestrian crossing signals to be installed, as well as new street lights in poorly lit areas.
The official release from NDOT states: Intermittent daytime shoulder and sidewalk closures will take place on U.S. 50 in eastern Carson City and Dayton through June as pedestrian crossing safety improvements are installed. All highway lanes will remain open through most of construction, with only brief lane closures taking place during a few days and nights of localized roadway resurfacing and restriping.
