A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the sierras Friday morning according to the U.S. Geological Service.

The earthquake originated 8 kilometers south east of Dollar Point, Calif., and began at 8:25 a.m.

After nearly 3 years, the prosecution of Wilber Martinez-Guzman is finally coming to a close. During a status hearing Thursday morning in Washoe County District Court, Guzman pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including four First Degree Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon charges.

A 64-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon in which a person was stabbed in the knee with a knife, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

After burning for more than 60 days, the Caldor Fire, which threatened the south shore area of Lake Tahoe before firefighters successfully pushed it out of a destructive path, has reached 100 percent containment, the U.S. Forest Service said Thursday.

Students and staff members in the Carson City school district will rock and roll in earthquake drills throughout the day today, Thursday, Oct. 21. The events are part of the Great Nevada ShakeOut, an annual statewide earthquake drill designed to teach students and educators about how to protect themselves during an earthquake.
